Terra Peninsular began to manage the platform on shorebird festivals www.shorebirdsfestivals.com, an initiative to connect and promote bird festivals in the American continent. This project was achieved through an agreement with Manomet and joint work with the Executive Office of the WHSRN, which will work to increase the reach and impact of this ambitious initiative.
“At Terra Peninsular we are very happy to be part of this project and join as promoters of this international network of festivals,” said the Executive Director, César Guerrero. “We have been organizing festivals since 2015 and that is why it is so important for us to work on the promotion and projection of these awareness events about shorebirds.”
On the other hand, Diego Luna Quevedo, Conservation Specialist of WHSRN, pointed out that “Shorebird festivals have become true local icons throughout the hemisphere, carrying public awareness messages, inspiring conservation and pride of the communities when receiving the shorebirds in their large migrations. Festivals are also a tourist attraction of great interest.”
Shorebirdsfestivals is a channel of access to information, lessons and learning designed for two audiences: those interested in starting or strengthening their festivals and those interested in participating in festivals, whether tourists or the general public.
The platform will soon be available in English, so festivals in the United States and Canada will also be able to join this project.
This project is a joint initiative of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN), the Copper River International Migratory Bird Initiative (CRIMBI) and the United States Forest Service.
Terra Peninsular invites you to join this network of festivals, people and communities to celebrate shorebirds!
