Terra Peninsular received 1 of the 1000 underwater drones given by National Geographic with the initiative called Open Explorer.

The drone is a remotely operated underwater vehicle, better known as ROV. It will be use to explore the submarine volcanoes of San Quintín Bay, monitor marine organisms and take underwater pictures.

About the following steps, first, we will conduct tests in controlled environments to learn how to use the underwater drone and then, it will be used in biological monitoring in San Quintin Bay.

The drone will be used as a research tool which will help to implement protective measures against the uncontrolled growth of desalination plants in San Quintín, as well as being a very useful dissemination tool.
