“This workshop is a first step of a ladder that can lead to many places,” said the coordinator of Social Awareness and Participation, Jorge Andrade, at the closing of the Participatory Strategic Planning Workshop.
With two sessions of two days each, 18 citizens from La Chorera participated in the workshop that was taught by staff of Pro Esteros and Terra Peninsular between April and May, as part of the objectives of environmental education of North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA).
The main objective of the Participatory Strategic Planning Workshop was to provide the necessary tools for solving social and environmental problems to the people of the community, and this was achieved through different exercises and dynamics. (Read the full story here).
The awards presentation was held on Saturday May 21 at La Chorera during a pleasant reunion that was held in the house of Doña Juana, one of the people with more time living in the community and who kindly lent his house for the reunion.
“The event belongs to you, I’m happy that things have happened this way,” said Jorge before giving the certificates of completion to each of the participants. He thanked the community for the interest and willingness in joining the workshop and also to open their doors to Pro Esteros and Terra Peninsular.
He added that the workshop is the first step towards strengthening and community growth between associations and people, because both sides are in favor of the conservation of natural resources.
