Terra Peninsular offices located in the city of Ensenada, Baja California, received the 100% smoke free establishment certificate the past may 31st of this year, date in which the world No Tobacco Day is celebrated.
As part of the program itself, anywhere inside the facilities smoking is strictly prohibited, with the inclusion of green areas, parking spaces and vehicles. Other measures taken are monthly checks from the internal monitoring committee, which is comprised by staff members.
This certification represents significant progress towards Terra Peninsular efforts for conservation, aside from being the first step for the development of future projects that will consist of certifying all nature reserves that are protected and managed by the organization:
- Punta Mazo Nature Reserve, in San QuintÃn.
- Monte Ceniza Nature Reserve, in San QuintÃn.
- Valle Tranquilo Nature Reserve, El Rosario.
- Rancho La Concepción Nature Reserve, Sierra San Pedro Mártir.
The recognition ceremony took place in the State Government Center of Ensenada, with corresponding authorities from the Public Health Service Institute of Baja California (or by its acronym in Spanish ISESALUD) present in the event.
With the given fulfillment of the Law for Prevention against Exposure to Tobacco Smoke in Baja California, this initiative is an effort from ISESALUD through the sanitation and risks authorities.
