The last few weeks have been challenging while we continue adapting to the changes in our ways of living and working in order to reduce the curve of contagions in the ongoing health emergency that is the coronavirus (COVID-19).

As we continue to follow the recommendations of the local authorities, by working remotely and promoting social distancing, we have currently paused all public activities and events, hoping to resume them as soon as possible.

Thanks to the collaboration of our field officers in San Quintín and El Rosario, and the neighboring communities to the reserves of Punta Mazo, Monte Ceniza and Valle Tranquilo, we have been able to continue carrying out some of our habitat restoration, surveillance and monitoring activities, while attending all precautions and measures of social distancing.

We will continue to be in touch with local community members to monitor their most pressing needs and to evaluate the best way to support them in this time of crisis; as the main sources of employment in their region have been affected by the decrease in working hours in the agricultural, livestock, fishing and tourism sectors.

This current situation has given us a moment to reflect and remember that the only constant is change, if the nature of the peninsula has taught us anything it is that with resilience and flexibility we can adapt and prosper. We will continue to follow the situation in the San Quintín region as it develops and adjust our activities accordingly.

On behalf of Terra Peninsular’s team, we wish everyone to be safe and healthy.
