The Branta Negra was a seasonal bourbon porter style beer that we created together with Escafandra brewery as our first cause marketing product.
The project started in 2015 during a chat between friends. The idea came up with this question: what if there was a beer that would help us spread the importance of conserving nature?
Little by little the idea took shape until it became a project. The question that remained in the air was: what name should we give it?
The organization has its origins in San Quintin, so it seemed logical to choose the name of one of the most representative migratory birds of the region.

We thought of the black brant (branta negra in Spanish), a goose that migrates from Alaska and winters in the bay.
That name was the first option, and we immediately imagined a seasonal beer, dark and robust for the cold months.
This is how the concept of launching a cause marketing product came about, all proceeds going to conservation projects in San Quintin, the winter home of the black brant.
We approached Escafandra, a local brewery in Ensenada, with the project and without a second thought they joined us. They took care of shaping our initial idea of a seasonal dark beer and proposed making a bourbon porter.

The first time we announced the beer was at our 15th anniversary party in 2016, and it immediately began to attract fans.
The first official production was launched in November 2016, and became a bigger success than we expected. It was a seasonal beer that was available between November and March.

Dark color with high intensity reminiscent of toasted caramel, against the light it has ruby reflections on the rim, not cloudy, with a fine, fair and persistent layer of cinnamon-colored foam.

Malt profile reminiscent of sponge cake or brioche bread at the beginning and notes of cherry and fig. Evolving presents roasted and caramelized notes, you can perceive coffee, chocolate and nuts accompanied on the background of vanilla and brown sugar or caramel.
Taste
The malt is felt from the beginning, leaving a long and complex aftertaste where caramel and chocolate can be perceived. A pleasant sensation in the mouth, due to its fair and silky carbonation, with a high body.
Food pairing
To accompany complex dishes, slow cooked and / or braised meats, roast suckling pig or ribs go well, bittersweet sauces based on black or red fruits, black mole and chocolate desserts are ideal.
