Terra Peninsular’s Anniversary Celebration in San Quintin Bay
On Saturday April 23, members of the Board, staff, associated researchers and friends of Terra Peninsular got together at Molino Viejo in the San QuintÃn Bay to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the organization.
Participatory Strategic Planning Workshop at La Chorera
With the purpose of ​​approaching the community to get to know their needs, create a working alliance and encourage reflection, analysis and application of solutions to socio-environmental issues, a Strategic Planning Workshop was held in La Chorera, San QuintÃn.
Introducing our first cause-marketing product
During the 15th anniversary celebration, Terra Peninsular’s first cause-marketing product was officially presented: a bourbon porter style beer named Branta Negra elaborated by CervecerÃa Escafandra, a local brewery.
New Environmental Monitoring Committee in San QuintÃn
The Community La Chorera Environmental Monitoring Committee was officially created on February 17, 2016. During one year, the members will be responsible for the detection and report of environmental illegal activities in San QuintÃn Bay.
Seagrass Monitoring
As part of a regional program to develop a database with biological information about the coastal lagoons of Baja California, an evaluation of seagrass distribution in San Quintin Bay was performed between November and January. The bay is relevant both for its economic and ecological value.
New protected areas in San QuintÃn Bay
The Destination Agreements (Acuerdos de destino) for the protection of two wetlands in San QuintÃn Bay, Ensenada were approved last December. Panteón Inglés Norte and Punta Azufre wetlands are now protected by the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP).
Cleaning and Restoring Wetlands in San QuintÃn
As part of the Community Engagement strategy, a couple of months ago we began to work with the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the communities of Chapala and La Chorera in a Temporary Employment Program (PET).
First San Quintin Bay Bird Festival
Saturday, October 24th 2015, 6:50am, San QuintÃn Bay. The October sun begins to shine. Fresh air comes with the sunrise mist that covers the Volcanic Valley. The sun’s golden light bathes the dunes of Punta Mazo, the shorebirds are aligned in groups in front of the ocean. The bay begins to awake: today is Terra Peninsular’s First Annual Bird Festival.
